What is Pubrunning?

pubrunning [puhb-ruh-ning] noun (informal, chiefly British)

A semi regular social ritual in which a group of individuals assemble at a pub—preferably nestled in the bucolic charm of the British countryside—only to immediately depart it on foot, engaging in a consensual bout of running, hiking, or brisk walking over an agreed-upon distance or duration. The journey, though physical, is also spiritual, culminating in a triumphant return to the originating pub. Here, participants partake in communal revelry, conversation, and restorative beverages (ranging from ale to hot chocolate), all in the noble pursuit of camaraderie, cardiovascular enrichment, and elevated dopamine levels.

About Us

We’re not the inventors of the pub run — far from it. It’s an idea as old as the winding footpaths and weathered bar stools that dot the British landscape. We’re just giving it a home.

At pubruns.co.uk, we believe in the quiet magic of pairing movement with moments of connection. Maybe it’s a double shot oat latte after a misty morning run, or a golden-hour loop that ends with a cold pint and friends by the fire. However you mix miles and pubs, there’s something timeless in the ritual.

More Than a Pub. More Than a Run.

We believe in pubs — not just as places to drink, but as places that anchor communities, tell stories, and welcome everyone in. We believe in the romance of the countryside — the rolling hills, the uneven stiles, the sudden vistas that stop you in your tracks. We love the mud, the laughter, the sense of shared effort. The clarity it brings to your head and the strength it brings to your body.

Friends, Footpaths & Pints

Our goal is simple: to make pub runs a more common, accepted, and celebrated way to spend time with friends. This isn’t about pace or distance. It’s about enjoying the journey, together.
